While reading I was completely lost because I was looking for the connection between the two books which never came. Is this finally their season for love? When her mother is brutally murdered by a serial killer, Silver is forced to live with her grandmother, a vicious woman who beats her and drinks. This book shows the difficulties of living in the hood when you want to get out. But a tragic incident turns a night of high school achievement into a crime scene, and Jessica and her girls are left with bloody hands and a shattered future.
After an unforgettable night at the prom and an after party, life as they knew it quickly came to an end with one split decision. Fast friends, Silver and Chance share details of their imperfect worlds. She reunites with Chance, who is now a high-powered drug lord, but in her eyes will always be the same sweet boy she befriended at age 11. As they begin an affair, Silver tries to convince Chance to give up the lethal way of life that ruined both their childhoods. A good story, I love how the couple grew and how Treasure introduces the characters and brings the story all the way home. It will make you cry, scream and want to get inside the book.
Growing up in harlem makes them grow up faster than they have to and also forces them to experience things they should not have had to exeperience. Friends become enemies and the likely suspects are simple casualties of a cleverly executed plot courtesy of Treasure E. Blue and I am now a fan and can't wait to read more from this author. These include Chance Haze, a soulful but troubled boy shuffled from one abusive foster home to another. Silver assembles a crew of old Harlem friends and executes an intricate plot to take down Hollis and free her man. Each character is expertly profiled and we begin to care about them and what happens to them. Great book I will totally recommend this book. Each character played their role immensely! Blue is a for real hood fairytale. Once I started reading it I just couldn't put it down. Harlem Girl Lost 2 provides a look at the ugly truth of how crack turned a community into a virtual wasteland that it took nearly 10 years to recover from. This book is about a girl named Silver whos mother was hoe and who got raped at a party. Her mother having had Silver at the age of 15, worked the streets to earn a living, yet she gave Silver all the advice she would need to survive. Harlem girl lost 2 holds you hostage from the very beginning.
Blue, street lit's hottest newcomer, crafts characters that fly off the page and a story that burns with intensity. I loved it, but was not crazy about it. As you are reading about her journey, you will discover that despite life's hardships, a rose has grown through the concrete and this Harlem Girl Is No Longer Lost! This is a wonderful story of triumph over tragedy and how the human spirit reigns even in the midst of constant chaos. I have had this book for more than a year and just decided to read it. I could not help but to feel for Jessica and her friends as they had to endure such a nightmare that would not only change their lives forever. That didn't stop Jessica from teaching Silver valuable life lessons and instilling in her the importance of an education. The character development in this novel is amazing! Imagine growing up with a drug addicted prostitute mother, a grandmother who hates you and a father who isn't there.
The story gripped me and my emotions so tightly that I couldn't exhale until I was done. Friendship, loyalty, jealousy, disappointment, heartbreak, suspense, and love are in abundance amidst another of Treasures' treasures. Her mother was chewed up and spit out by its dark side—brutally murdered while turning a trick. Reading this book and seeing what everyone been through makes you want to get your life together especially if Vonda could do it hell everyone in her family were addicteds by the grace of God she was able to overcome it. I believe there was a sequel to this, I would love to read it.
. I am so mad I waited so long to do so. This is the first book I've read by Treasure E. I will definitely read whatever else he's written and soon. Along her journey she finds friendship, passion and heartache. Blue has been gracious enough to pen a novel that touches you deep down in your soul. The mother got pregnant with Silver and never told her who her father was.
Although Jesse has a complicated life, she is a caring mother. Out of everyone Jessica and Vonda were the strongest in the long run I loved the back story on Chance 2 I wish this book came out first now I wanna go back and read part 1. If you are a true urban fiction reader, this title is for you. A deep story, expertly written with all the ingredients that make this a five star read!! In love with these characters! Although Jesse has a complicated life, she is a caring mother. The four are your average high school girls who are occupied with learning the latest dances and looking cute and attending college while possibly finding true love. Sliver mom Jesse grow up in a house with her mom that beat her and really didn't care much about her at all. Treasure E Blue is not just your average author he is one of the best and I look forward to reading Harlem Girl Lost 3.
